I'm so excited to announce that I'll be co-teaching the online textile course, INTERWOVEN: make: thread: craft: art with my dear friend, Oakland-based artist and teacher, Lisa Solomon. We have just decided to offer the class again in 2014 from March 31- May 23. Hooray!
The first course was so wonderful that we wanted to do it one more time. And, we considered all the feedback, and decided to extend the course from 4 weeks to 8 weeks so that participants could have 2 full weeks to focus on each project. I'm thrilled to offer this online workshop once more.
It's so wonderful to be able to reach students all over the globe and share our passion for textiles in art and craft. And, because we create all the content and design at home, we are able to offer the information at a low price. Just $99 for 8-weeks of art instruction. Hooray for affordable art workshops!
We'll spend one entire week covering each of the content areas: crochet, embroidery, soft sculpture, and quilting. And then we'll spend every other week focused on your studio time--as you work to complete the project or practice the technique and have complete access to the class and to us for feedback or guidance.
So, in essence, you'll spend 2 weeks on each of the project areas: crochet, embroidery, soft sculpture, and quilting. But you'll be able to work at your own pace from any location where you can connect to the Internet--this way we can accommodate various timezones.
Each of the lesson weeks will include a step-by-step tutorial video, an exclusive interview with an artist using this technique in her fine art work, online resources, ideas to take the technique to the next level, dozens of beautiful photographs, and more links and lists than any person could absorb in one sitting.
It's packed full of original content. And Lisa and I really put our hearts into the creation of an e-course that incorporates "craft" and "art" in a way that is accessible and inspired. Honestly, we worked our butts off to put together this course and we are so excited to offer it again. Because we believe deeply in this work and in making this work accessible to as many folks as possible.
Visit the class website for more details, a materials list, and a FAQ page (and, um, a silly video of the two camera shy instructors). We're offering the course for just $99 through the end of the year for any early bird who purchases the class before January 1, 2014. The cost of the course is $125 after the early bird special. If you have any questions, leave me a comment or drop me a line.
And if you'd like to see me offer an online course in something not included in INTERWOVEN, I'd love to hear your suggestions too. (I promise to respond in the comments section.) Now then, back to the studio for a few more hours of work before the holidays descend.
